How to Set Up Shipping Options for Your Products – A Seller’s Guide

9 July 2024 Comments Off

Shipping can make or break a customer’s shopping experience. That’s why we’ve made it easy for you to configure detailed shipping options for each of your products. Whether you offer Standard, Economy, Express Delivery service, or other shipping types, this guide will walk you through how to set them up in your Seller Dashboard.

Let’s dive into how you can tailor each shipping type with flexibility, transparency, and ease.

Where to Find Your Shipping Settings

Head to your Seller Account and open the Product Edit Page for the product you want to update.

Click on the “Shipping” tab, and you’ll see a list of available Available carriers – like Standard Shipping, Express Shipping, Economy Shipping, etc.

Each shipping type appears in its own expandable panel. You can configure each one individually to meet your customers’ expectations.

Section 1: Cost Settings

Enable This Shipping Type

Start by ticking the checkbox next to the shipping type name (e.g., Standard Shipping). This activates the panel so you can enter settings.

Base Shipping Cost

Set your flat starting shipping fee here.
Tick the “Free Shipping” checkbox if you want to offer this service for free (this will automatically set the base cost to 0).

Additional Multi-buy Cost

If you want to charge more for extra quantities, enter a cost here. This helps cover the cost of multiple-item orders.

Choose a Shipping Rate Strategy

Use the Shipping Rates dropdown to select how the cost behaves with multiple quantities:

  • Normal/Default Rate – Shipping cost increases per item.
  • Quantity Flat Rate – One cost only, regardless of how many items.
  • Shipping Price Cap – Increases per item, but stops at a max cost.

Additional Info (Optional but Helpful)

  • Additional Carrier Info – A short label or internal note about this carrier.
  • Carrier Description – A longer description that customers might see during checkout.

Section 2: Delivery Settings

Mark as Default Shipping Method

If this shipping type is your main shipping method for this product, tick the box to set as default.

⚠️ Only one shipping type can be marked as default per product.

Shipping/Delivery Service

Choose the actual carrier (e.g., Royal Mail, DX Delivery, Parcelforce) you’ll use for this shipping type.

Estimated Dispatch Time

Select the latest time in the day when you can dispatch an order. This helps set customer expectations and aligns with your daily logistics.

Dispatch Delay (Days)

How long after receiving the order can you prepare it for shipment? Choose from a dropdown (e.g., 1 day, 2 days, etc.)

Delivery Delay (Days)

How many days does it usually take after dispatch for the package to arrive at the customer’s doorstep?

🧠 Total Delivery Time = Dispatch Delay + Delivery Delay

Tips for Smart Shipping Setup

  • Offer multiple shipping types to give buyers flexibility between speed and cost.
  • Use Flat Rate or Capped Pricing to encourage multi-item purchases.
  • Set realistic delays based on your real-world packaging and courier schedules.
  • Write clear descriptions – this builds trust and improves conversions.
  • Review settings regularly especially if you change courier or service.
